50 Cent’s vision could put Shreveport on ‘trajectory to be one of the fastest-growing cities’

You see that rebirthing that is here, but to actually think that our city is gaining nationwide attention from a mogul that has a significant investment here gives birth to our children,” Shreveport Councilwoman Tabatha Taylor said.

Media mogul and award-winning artist Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is preparing to transform the former Millennium Studios in downtown Shreveport into his G-Unit Studios.

“What this means is Shreveport could be on the trajectory to be one of the fastest-growing cities, not only with population but with economic development,” Councilman Alan Jackson said.

Shreveport’s film industry is about to transform with this new expansion. And, according to city leaders, 50 Cent is interested in purchasing other properties throughout Shreveport, including Stageworks.

“He is actually looking to exercise and utilize local talent that is here,” Taylor said.”And that local talent can range from business owners to actors or whatever it is that your skillset is.”

50 Cent’s G-Unit Studios is expected to bring jobs, boost tourism and grow the area’s real estate market.

“People are moving back home. People are investing in Shreveport. And we see all it took was 50 Cent to light that spark,” Jackson said.

During 50 Cent’s visit Friday, he met with city leaders and representatives of local organizations to reveal his short- and long-term plans for G-Unit Studios.

“But after hearing his complete vision, he really wants to transform Shreveport,” Jackson said.

G-Unit Studios is undergoing renovations. And according to city leaders, 50 Cent is expected to host a grand opening in August.
