On April 14th, news hit social media that a Rick Ross diss track aimed at Drake had leaked online, and amidst the Canadian’s feud with Kendrick Lamar, hip-hop responded with mixed reactions.
Entitled ‘Champagned Memories’ which refers to Drake’s longtime Instagram handle @ChampagnePapi, the diss track hears Ross rap lines such as “Like his moves, but he never had a fight in school / Always ran another n*gga had to write your grooves.” It also refers to Drake having “copy and paste” rhymes.
Following the song’s leak, text messages from Drake to his mother surfaced online, which saw the Scorpion emcee write, “It’s coming from Rick Ross, the guy I did songs with, he’s gone loopy off the Mounjaro.” He also called Ross “angry” and “racist.” The Maybach Music founder called Drake a “white boy” and accused him of getting a nose job during the song.
One person who loves the drama is 50 Cent, who shared a screenshot of the texts, writing, “Mounjaro makes you hungry and racist, we don’t need this sh*t take it off the market LOL. @bransoncognac @lecheminduroi.”
50 Cent has feuded with Rick Ross for years, and in the comment section, fans were urging the Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ musician to team up with Drake for a Ross diss track. One user wrote, At this point, we need Drake & 50 to team up for a track with Whoo Kid on the intro,” while another commented, “A Drake and 50 track would take over the world.”
Drake’s troubles began when Kendrick Lamar dissed him and J Cole on Metro Boomin’s ‘Like That.’ Although Cole responded with a diss track, he later apologised. However, the ‘God’s Plan’ artist seems to be taking a different approach.
Rick Ross got involved after a leaked Drake diss track aimed at Lamar diss entitled “Push Ups,” on Friday, featured a line about Rick Ross. You can see Drake’s text exchange with his mother below.
