Jackson has signed his 30-year lease agreement with the City of Shreveport to establish G-Unit Studios at the former Millennium Studios downtown. The city originally purchased the property for 3.2 million dollars and is leasing it to Jackson for $2,400 per year. Under the agreement, G-Unit must maintain the upkeep of the building, which the city said will save taxpayers $180,000 annually. Jackson is also required to produce a number of films at the studio while offering job opportunities for locals.
50 Cent spoke to an excited crowd on the steps of Government Plaza, who welcomed him with open arms.
“Bringing G-Unit Studios to Shreveport is more than just a business decision; it’s a commitment to foster talent, create opportunities, and to invest in the community itself. To build what I would need to execute what I’ve got going with G-Unit studios. It’s going to create a lot of jobs. Through the expansion of G-Unit in Shreveport, my aim is to embody the spirit of conscious capitalism, focus on creating jobs, stimulating commerce, and contributing to economic growth for this vibrant community. Our vision to make Shreveport a beacon of the entertainment industry. A place where creativity meets opportunity. Where talent meets mentorship and where amazing stories come to life that resonate globally,” Jackson said.
He met with business leaders on Friday to discuss his future plans. He also said he plans to buy real estate in the downtown area. After his citywide welcome, he also hosted a party inside the Skybox Stadium at Independence Stadium on Thursday night, which became very crowded.
