50 Cent’s response to his son, Marquise Jackson, was pretty harsh
Family dynamics can be tricky, and that’s evident with 50 Cent and his son, Marquise Jackson.
Marquise, 27, is the rapper’s eldest son whom he shares with Shaniqua Tompkins.
50 Cent – real name Curtis Jackson – also has a second son, Sire, who was born in 2012.
The ‘In Da Club’ hitmaker is believed to have had a relationship with Marquise at at one stage, but the pair later became estranged.
According to Marquise, their father-son relationship ‘went south’ when he was ’10 or 11′.
“He wasn’t really around enough. It kind of dwindled down as time went on and certain events happened,” he told Rap Up in 2017. “For me, I just started feeling differently about him because growing up, my dad was my superhero.”
Marquise continued: “Then, as I got older, you start realizing things or you start seeing certain patterns and it takes an effect on your relationship with people.
“That’s what happened with me and my father. He’s still alive but I can’t tell you our last conversation or the last time we even had a dialogue.”
Fast forward to 2022 and Marquise tried to reach out to his father via social media.
Sharing a photo of himself on Instagram with cash led on the floor that was placed to read ‘entitled’, the 27-year-old wrote: “Since y’all think $6,700 is sooo much money someone tell my pops I will pay him $6,700 for just 24hr of his time so we can do everything I ever wanted to do with him as a kid.”
50 Cent took to Instagram a day after Marquise’s post, with a clip from crime drama television series, Power. As well as being an executive producer on the show, 50 Cent played the role of Kanan Stark.
The video 50 Cent shared shows Kanan with his son, Shawn.
The scene sees Shawn saying how he wants to make Kanan proud of him. However, Kanan simply dismisses his son as having ‘failed [him] again’.
Ouch.
Many people interpreted the timing of the post to be a indirect response to Marquise’s Instagram photo.
In another post shared by Marquise, he alleged that his father had blocked him on social media.
Sharing a series of snaps of the rapper and him together, he penned: “Now y’all all see I tried to reach out to talk to my pops as a MAN in front of the [world] & behind the scenes. I have no phone number for you & You’ve had me blocked on social media for years so I can’t DM you personally & everybody that is mutual is scared to touch the topic bc they’re scared of you.”
Marquise continued to write in the lengthy post that he wasn’t wanting money from 50 Cent, but simply that he wanted to ‘sit down and talk’ with the 48-year-old.
At the time of writing, it’s believed their pair are still estranged.
