Corey Taylor announced in his latest X post that he called off his solo performance at the Aftershock festival in Sacramento, California, due to injury and health problems.
The singer wrote the following about the cancellation in his statement:
“To my Aftershock friends & family – I am so saddened to inform you that we will not be able to perform at Aftershock today. During our Los Angeles show this past week, I fell on stage and sustained a significant injury to my knee. On top of this, a few members of our band and crew have been impacted by COVID, and as a result, we are unable to perform.”
He continued, sharing his best wishes for the ones who contracted COVID:
“The health and safety of our team and the festival attendees is of utmost importance to us. We are deeply disappointed by this situation but are hoping for a fast recovery for everyone involved. Thank you for an amazing tour – and we can’t wait to rock out with you soon.”
This recent setback follows Taylor’s knee surgeries in May 2019, which required a short recovery period. Still, he made a quick recovery, even appearing on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ with Slipknot that same month and successfully performing a solo show shortly after.
In 2016, he had to undergo emergency spinal surgery, revealing a previously undetected long-standing neck injury that may have stemmed from a fall during an Ozzfest performance in 1999, according to Taylor’s reflections on the incident.
Taylor’s tour of 28 cities began on August 25 at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver. It traveled across the United States, including cities like Detroit, Orlando, and Dallas, before concluding with a headline performance at The Wiltern in Los Angeles on October 5.
