David Gilmour recently retweeted ‘Campaign Against Antisemitism’s tweet about the documentary titled ‘The Dark Side of Roger Waters,’ that tells the alleged antisemitism from his former Pink Floyd bandmate Roger Waters. The tweet read:
“‘Dirty kyke,’ ‘Jew food,’ ‘Fucking Jew.’ Is Roger Waters antisemitic? Watch The Dark Side of Roger Waters now and decide for yourself.”
Gilmour, who has had a long-standing feud with his former bandmate and barely uses social media, retweeted the documentary to ensure fans don’t forget the singer’s comments.
Even though Gilmour didn’t comment when he reposted the video, he has made remarks against Waters’ antisemitic opinions before. The guitarist’s wife, Polly Samson, gave an interview to Berliner Zeitung and accused Waters as ‘antisemitic.’ She said:
“Sadly, Roger Waters, you are antisemitic to your rotten core. Also, a Putin apologist and a lying, thieving, hypocritical, tax-avoiding, lip-synching, misogynistic, sick-with-envy megalomaniac. Enough of your nonsense.”
Polly also called Rogers ‘a Putin apologist and a lying, thieving, hypocritical, tax-avoiding, lip-synching, misogynistic, sick-with-envy, megalomaniac.’ Gilmour stood by his wife and tweeted in support the her claims against his former bandmate were ‘demonstrably true.’
However amidst all the criticism, Waters dismissed the documentary and even described it as ‘a flimsy, unapologetic piece of propaganda that indiscriminately mixes things I’m alleged to have said or done at different times and in different contexts, in an effort to portray me as an antisemite, without any foundation in fact.’
