Following the release of ‘The Dark Side of Roger Waters,’ David Gilmour’s wife, Polly Samson, revisited the antisemitism discussions about the former Pink Floyd vocalist on Twitter. She pointed to one of Waters’ tweets from earlier this year, where he shared an interview with the Berliner Zeitung that addressed these accusations and wrote:
“For the record. It was this interview in Berliner Zeitung that broke this camel’s back. I didn’t attach it to my tweet of February 6 because his are not views I would ever wish to amplify.”
In response, Heidi Bachram reshared Campaign Against Antisemitism’s new documentary highlighting Waters’ use of antisemitic language and said Samson has been ‘absolutely and completely vindicated.’ As Bachram also thanked for her ‘honesty and bravery,’ the songwriter tweeted:
“Thank you. I wish I had the strength to take on all the antisemites as tirelessly and courageously as you do.”
In early 2023, Samson called out Roger Waters for his words about the Israeli government and Russia-Ukraine war on Twitter by calling him a ‘Putin apologist, lying, thieving, hypocritical, misogynistic antisemitic.’ Later, she revealed that she received antisemitic messages because of her words.
Exposing one of them accusing the Jews of ‘corruption, theft, ritual murder of children’ and more, the songwriter wrote:
“Since calling out Roger Waters’ antisemitism, I receive filth like this every day. It’s vile, but I have no regrets because being a bystander would be so much worse.”
