Actor Drew Barrymore has praised the star of Mean Girls, Reneé Rapp, for protecting her from a stalker. Rapp had appeared on the most recent episode of The Drew Barrymore Show.
The cast of Mean Girls had joined Barrymore to talk about the musical movie. During the conversation, Barrymore embraced Rapp in a hug and thanked the actor for helping her out in a scenario in which an alleged stalker approached them at an event last year.
“You and I, by the way, you’re my protector,” Barrymore said. “Reneé and I had an incident recently where this guy came to attack me on a stage that I was [on] with Reneé, and she mama-beared out and protected me so well.”
In August last year, Barrymore was interviewing Rapp in New York City when a member of the audience interrupted the conversation.
“I’m Chad Michael Busto, you know who I am,” he said. “I need to see you at some point while I’m here in New York.”
Several members of security then apprehended the man and asked him to “back up” from the stage. It was at that point that Rapp put her arm around Barrymore and helped her off stage. Shortly after, the pair returned to finish their conversation.
“Well, I have a new definition of your sexiness; it’s that level of protectiveness — that went full Bodyguard,” Barrymore said when they returned.
Rapp is playing Regina George in the Paramount musical version of Mean Girls. Check out the trailer for Mean Girls below.
