During a recent appearance on Tulsa Music Stream, John Corabi addressed some of the current claims circulating against Mick Mars, implying his future statements might change the course of events.
Corabi recalled that during the signing event for his new book ‘Horseshoes and Hand Grenades,‘ one of his fans asked him about Crüe’s statement about Mars’ retirement:
“One of the fans said to me, ‘How do you feel about this whole thing, the statement of Mick Mars retiring?’ The statement had been out maybe a couple of weeks. I don’t have anything against Mötley, I don’t have anything against Mick, I really have no f*cking horse in that race.
But they asked me a question, and I said, ‘You know what? Honestly, that’s a statement that was prepared by Mötley’s managers. I’m not going to totally believe anything that they have to say until I hear from Mick.’ And that was it, that’s all I said.”
He then continued, elaborating on his stance regarding the statement Mars issued. As the singer said, he still needs to hear it from Mars himself:
“I don’t know what it is, but something’s not right. So I made that comment at the book signing thing, and the fan was like, ‘What do you mean?’ and I just said, ‘Look, this is a statement again that has been made up. It’s not made up, but it’s a press release put together by Mötley’s PR people and management. Until I hear from Mick, yes, I’m not feeling a hundred percent. So, ‘I’m not gonna tour anymore, or I’m stepping out of Mötley Crüe,’ until he says it, I don’t believe any of it.”
Back in October 2022, Mötley Crüe issued a statement that Mars would retire from touring with the band due to his health issues, but he would still remain a member of the band. After the news, John 5 replaced him. Later, Mars sued his former band members, claiming he didn’t officially resign from the band.
Corabi had previously claimed in 2022 that Mick Mars might have been forced out of the band. In July 2023, he also expressed concern over Mars’ seclusion after the legal issues and mentioned not getting any responses from Mars.
