On Tuesday (November 5), Rolling Stone published a profile on the Miami beatmaker with comments and insight from his peers in the business. Among them is Joey Crack, who revealed that Eminem’s verse on the remix for “Lean Back” traces back to motivation from the Grammy-winning producer.
“When we did ‘Lean Back,’ we did it in a studio in [Khaled’s] house,” Joe recalled. “I remember when it came to be remix time, I would’ve never thought I had a chance in the world of getting Eminem.
“He told me, ‘You could get Em.’ And I went all out and I got Eminem because Khaled had pushed me to.”
Fat Joe and DJ Khaled go way back, having collaborated since their time together in Terror Squad. Their bond has only grown stronger over the years, and their most recent joint effort demonstrates that.
In mid-September, the pair announced that they will be assisting men who are looking to return to their glory years and turn the clocks back to a time when their hair wasn’t grey (this is particularly funny since Joe has been bald for most of his time in the public eye).
In an Instagram post, they announced a new product named REWIND IT 10, which is essentially a professional hair coloring kit.
While Joe simply uploaded a video of REWIND IT 10 boxes, showing different shades of celebrity men — including legendary model Tyson Beckford, NFL superstar Travis Kelce and R&B star Tank — with “All the Way Up” stitched over the clip, Khaled decided to promote the product in a more entertaining fashion in a since-deleted post.
“Why fight the time, when you can, rewind the time!” he said in his best salesman voice. “Why fight the time when you can rewind the time. Why fight the time when you can just rewind the time! Why fight the time when you can rewind the time.”
While REWIND IT 10 has yet to hit store shelves, the company is looking for people to sign up here and be one of the first individuals to try the emerging product.
