Rap heavyweight Ice Cube has expanded his brisk-selling Straight Into Canada tour with a string of dates that includes Ottawa.
The American rapper, a former member of the hip hop supergroup N.W.A., will perform at TD Place on May 4, with openers Xzibit, Merkules, Peter Jackson, and DJ Kav.
Regular tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, with a 12-hour presale starting at 10 a.m. on Thursday (code: CUBE). Go to icecube.com for the ticketing link.
In the years following his departure from N.W.A., Cube established a successful solo career in music, launched a 3-on-3 basketball league and became a sought-after actor. His most recent role was Superfly in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.
A new solo album, his eleventh, is expected this summer. It’s titled Man Down.
The Canadian tour was to start Wednesday in Penticton, B.C., and will crisscross the country before winding down in Laval, Que., on May 10.
