J Cole has always been considered one of contemporary hip-hop’s great creatives. Now he has become one of rap’s legendary performers as he recently invited the iconic vocalist Janet Jackson on stage to perform her 2015 track ‘No Sleeep’ on which he features.
The Fayetteville emcee recently performed at Atlanta’s annual ONE Music Fest and, to the surprise of many, decided to bring on Janet Jackson to deliver her single, which appeared on her 2015 album, Unbreakable.
Janet Jackson has been performing across the US for her Together Again Tour but was happy to accompany Cole on stage in Atlanta. Jackson was one of many artists, including Kendrick Lamar, Megan Thee Stallion, and Brent Faiyaz, who all made appearances at the festival.
Dressed in all black, the singer hit the stage and received an immediate round of applause and screaming from the crowd. Cole recently appeared on Drake’s album For All The Dogs, on which he addressed fans’ speculation about a beef with NBA Youngboy.
Their recent collaboration was the first since their 2013 track ‘Jodeci Freestyle.’ On Drake’s project, Cole appeared on the song ‘First Person Shooter’. During the song, he raps, “N*ggas so thirsty to put me in beef / Dissectin’ my words and start lookin’ too deep / I look at the tweets and start suckin’ my teeth / I’m lettin’ it rock ’cause I love the mystique.”
Prior to Cole’s joint performance with Jackson, Lil Kim had been taking fans back to the 1990s and early-200s with tracks such as ‘Get Money,’ ‘Crush On You,” and ‘Magic Stick.’
J Cole also recently filled in for 21 Savage to perform alongside Drake on his It’s All A Blur Tour while in Montreal where he proceeded to perform a solo show delivering a medley of his own tracks, including ‘Wet Dreamz’ and ‘Middle Child’.
