The 33-year-old was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on August 15, 1990. While she may be successful now, the actress faced a lot of hardships during her childhood as she suffered from hyperactivity and social anxiety. It was said that once she started acting, the anxieties lessened.
During the early stages of her acting career, Lawrence went through several local theater productions thanks to her church and school. Her first role was as a prostitute based on the Book of Jonah.
Once she reached high school, Lawrence shined as a cheerleader as well as playing on the field hockey team and boys’ basketball team. Her acting career started kicking off when she was 14. Stories said that a talent scout spotted her during a family vacation in New York City and instantly arranged an audition for her.
Lawrence immediately received countless compliments from the agents as they rarely see talent from someone as young as her. Eventually, she signed a contract with CESD Talent Agency and scoured for an acting job throughout Los Angeles.
Due to these circumstances, Lawrence never graduated nor received her General Educational Development (GED), which is why her mother wasn’t exactly thrilled about her dream to become an actress.
By age 16, she finally appeared in a TV movie for the first time.
Jennifer Lawrence’s Salary Highlights
Now that we’ve tackled Lawrence’s film career, let’s dissect how much she has earned from those films.
First off is Winter’s Bone where she earned $3,000 per week.
Next, in 2012, Lawrence got her breakthrough role as Katniss Everdeen in the first Hunger Games; she had $500,000 as her salary. When the movie exceeded everyone’s expectations and grossed over $400 million, Lawrence immediately demanded a raise. Thus, the actress earned $10 million for Catching Fire and around $30-40 million in the final movie.
By 2016, she earned $20 million from her movie The Passengers. It’s important to note that she also earned $8 million more than her co-star Chris Pratt.
Additionally, Lawrence got $15 million from the film Red Sparrow. Nowadays, Lawrence’s earnings per movie are around a minimum of $15 million. This doesn’t include the bonuses she would negotiate with the producers.
Lastly, she was part of the Netflix movie Don’t Look Up, where she was paid $25 million.
With the actress’s high income and her endorsements, it is no wonder Lawrence’s net worth is at an all-time high.
Real Estate
With her wealth, Lawrence owns one of the most impressive real estate portfolios. Thanks to various reports, we now know most of the properties the actress owns.
Lawrence owns a house in Beverly Hills that covers a massive 5,500 square feet of land. The previous owners were Ellen DeGeneres and Jessica Simpson.
