During a recent appearance on Bill Maher’s ‘Club Random’ podcast, John Lennon’s son Julian shared that he has yet to sit down and have a lengthy chat with Paul McCartney. Julian added that he is waiting for McCartney to reveal many hidden stories of his dad. He expressed:
“We keep saying, and he [Paul McCartney] keeps telling me, we’re going to try and push for this, this year, sooner than later anyway. He keeps telling me, ‘I’ve got so many stories about your dad that I’ve never told anybody that I want you to hear about.’”
Julian also mentioned that McCartney shared some of his father’s sample recordings with him. But they haven’t had the time to do anything with them yet, so he added:
“And you know, he gave me some samples I thought I’d never heard before. But we just got to find the time and lock in to do that.”
Although Julian and Paul haven’t touched those samples yet, McCartney previously told BBC Radio 4 that he has used AI to mimic John Lennon’s vocals on a track that will be released this year. The singer shared how they worked on Lennon’s vocals by explaining:
“[We were] able to extricate John’s voice from a ropy little bit of cassette that had John’s voice and a piano. We could separate them with AI. They tell the machine: ‘That’s a voice. This is a guitar; lose the guitar.’ So when we came to make what will be the last Beatles record, it was a demo that John had that we worked on, and we just finished it up. It’ll be released this year.”
