New Orleans legend Lil Wayne recently appeared on The Richard Sherman podcast to speak about all things music, including Young Money and the iconic acts it has spawned. However, during the conversation, he crudely unveiled why everyone hates Drake.
Speaking on his selection of Nicki Minaj and Drake, Lil Wayne (real name Dwayne Carter) unveiled how he developed an eye for talent, stating, “I get that from my upbringing, from being around Birdman and Slim.”
Following this, Sherman proceeded to highlight how Minaj and Drake have now become two of the biggest hip-hop artists in the world, declaring, “It’s wild to see from where y’all started to where they at now. Now, they two of the biggest in the world. How proud does that make you? Knowing where they came from, knowing you had to spot ’em out, saw the talent?”
Carter responded, “No more, no less than a feeling of a proud father. Watching your child grow into being a perfect young man, the perfect young lady, doing all the things you ask them to do and doing it right when you got your eyes closed and your back turned. The proudest feeling!”
However, Sherman asked the Dedication emcee why people love to hate Drake, to which Carter swiftly replied, “Because he red, he light-skinned. That’s just American history. How I know is, because I’m not light-skinned. I hated on all light-skinned dudes in school. So yeah, it’s American history, man.”
Since Lil Wayne’s decision to fall into the background, a number of musical opportunities have come his way. Earlier this month, Louisiana lyricist B.G. sent Lil Wayne a message about a potential Hot Boys reunion.
Prior to becoming a solo artist, Wayne was part of the New Orleans collective Hot Boys speaking on Instagram Live, B.G. told Wayne, “Say Juvie, there’s people on my line, man, about this Hot Boys reunion! Weezy, stop playing, man! It’s a big bag involved, man. Ya heard me?”
