During a Q&A event at the South Point Casino in Las Vegas, Priscilla Presley opened up about his late husband Elvis Presley, and shared her final promise.
After her husband’s passing, Priscilla ultimately chose not to get remarried after Elvis because she knew one thing. She revealed:
“I just don’t think that he could handle that.”
Apparently, the actress had made a vow to the rocker about their marriage. Despite their marriage that lasted only six years, Priscilla was sure of one thing. She continued:
“To be honest with you, I never wanted to marry after him. I never had any desire. No one could ever match him.”
Why The Couple Only Had One Child
The couple welcomed their child, Lisa Marie Presley, in 1968, nine years before the singer’s death. After she was born, Elvis and Priscilla decided not to have any other children. Answering the question of why they only had one child, Priscilla explained:
“Elvis felt he had a very busy schedule and he did have a bit of guilt that he wasn’t around that much when Lisa was younger.”
With his already busy schedule and his music career, the rocker’s interaction with his daughter was not constant. Sharing her thoughts about a second child, the actress mentioned the difficulty of it and said:
“With his scheduling and his touring, he just felt he wasn’t around enough to give a lot of attention to having another child.”
The Relationship Was Portrayed In a Movie
A new biopic movie for Elvis and Priscilla’s love life has been released recently. Based on Priscilla’s biography, ‘Elvis and Me,’ the movie touches on the 14-year-old Priscilla’s meeting with Elvis. The actress said about the movie that it has been hard to sit and watch a movie about herself, her life, and her love. She also made it clear that the movie was portrayed well and that the director Sofia Coppola did an amazing job.
Despite Priscilla’s thoughts, Lisa Marie is not on the same page with her mother. Although she didn’t share her thoughts about the portrayal of her mother and father’s love life, Lisa Marie said that her father was shown as someone manipulative and a predator. After her comments, about ten pages were cut off the script.
