Spider-Man projects have always been a soft spot for superhero fans. Be it films, animated masterpieces, or videogames; projects featuring any version of the websligger are bound to reach impressive numbers. This has been the case for many years, dating back to when Tobey Maguire’s film was first released in 2002.

However, Marvel fans collectively agree that there are three main live-action Spider-Men; Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland. Spider-Man: Homecoming Got a Re-Release
Re-releases are quite a common phenomenon in Hollywood. Studios put an iconic project out in theaters years after its release so that fans could experience watching their favorite film on the big screen one more time. Many franchises have done this in the past, and while nostalgia is a big motivator for this, re-releasing films can also be very profitable for those involved.
Recently, Marvel took a similar step with Tom Holland’s iconic 2017 film, Spider-Man: Homecoming. The film has made a very special place in the hearts of fans and possesses a certain innocence to it. Now that Holland’s Peter Parker has grown quite a lot and is stuck in a very tough spot, looking back to simpler times can almost be therapeutic for fans.
When the movie was originally released, it managed to make over $800 million at the worldwide box office. Unfortunately, the number drastically dipped in its re-release. It was reported by Comicbook Movie that the film made $285,000 on its opening day, having been released in 466 theaters in the US.
Other Spider-Man Re-Releases Beat Tom Holland
While such a drastic difference in Spider-Man: Homcoming’s original revenue and rerelease revenue is not surprising, when it is compared to the other Spider-Men’s re-release profits, things seem unfortunate. Earlier this year, Tobey Maguire’s first Spider-Man film was re-released in 466 theaters. The film managed to gross an impressive $681,364 in its duration, according to Collider.
On the other hand, Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man was also re-released earlier this month. According to The Hollywood Handle, the movie managed to make $500,000, which is extremely low for Spider-Men films.
