City officials aren’t the only ones excited about 50 Cent’s arrival to Shreveport. Students and faculty at Southern University at Shreveport hope to work with the music mogul.
Chancellor Aubra Gantt says many acting and production students attend the university. She believes Curtis Jackson’s presence will be beneficial to many.
“I think it will be great for our community as we continue to build our community and look at community development and workforce for our students and work activity,” said Gantt.
Fred Moss, the assistant professor of journalism at SUSLA, has big plans for his students. The university will have a studio next to G-Unit Studio’s. Moss believes this will make a great partnership.
“He’s in Millennium Studio’s and we’re in the Epic Center, which is right next door. So, I know he’s going to see all of my students. I know he’s going to see all of this equipment. And He’s going to wonder, hey, we might need to do some things with Southern University,” said Moss.
One of Moss’s students is Kyndryck Green. Being close to 50 Cent could open doors for him and fellow students.
“With is being next door to Mr. Jackson, I feel like it just gives the opportunity and we could use what we learned from Mr. Moss and put it into the real world,” said Green.
Another student, Sirdeltrick Moore, agrees.
“I’m excited that he’ll do a lot of things for our community that we can benefit from because as a person like me who wants to make music like myself and movies and stuff like that. For the black community, he could help,” said Moore.
