Why Ted Nugent Brutally Slammed Taylor Swift

Ted Nugent usually never holds back when criticizing others, as the rocker had called out many prominent names in the past, such as Dolly Parton, whom he accused of satanism, and Kevin Bacon, whom he threatened to cancel. Now… It might be safe to say that Nugent does not hold back any word.

So, when his crosshairs pointed at Taylor Swift, even the ‘Look What You Made Do’ singer couldn’t escape the ‘Stranglehold’ star’s wrath. Now, if you’re wondering why would Nugent slam Swift? Well, you’re about to find out.

The rocker was co-hosting his show, ‘The Nightly Nudge,’ a few months ago when the topic came to ‘quality music’ and the ‘good ole days.’ So, Nugent decided to brag about the musical talent of his generation, saying:

“Well, thank God I was born in 1948 because Chuck Berry, and Bo Diddley, and Little Richard, and James Brown, and Wilson Pickett, and the Motown Funk Brothers; all those great soulful musical authorities inspired all the best music that we still love today. So, I’m spoiled to a fault because I lived in a whirlwind, the energy vortex of the most intense work ethic-driven music.”

He then continued by praising bands like Greta Van Fleet and Foo Fighters for trying to carry the torch of traditional rock and roll. However, after those brief praises, the guitarist took a quick U-turn and claimed today’s music couldn’t compete with old music:

“I’m afraid it’ll [music] never be like it was with The [Rolling] Stones and The Beatles and The Who and The Kinks and Led Zeppelin and what Van Halen created — so many people out there still doing it… But I’m afraid that most of the successful music today — some of it is mind-boggling.”

Nugent then started to slam Swift while calling her music ‘cartoonish’ and accusing her of lack of ‘authenticity.’ He said:

“Taylor Swift. That music, to me, sounds like cartoon music. It sounds like if I bumped into a child’s cartoon show on a Saturday morning, I would probably hear the No. 1 country song or I would hear the No. 1 pop song!”

The further rocker added, criticizing Swift for not making ‘organic’ music:

“It’s all formulated to give a certain vocal delivery and a certain chord change and a certain tempo that they examine so closely, that it’s not organic and instinctive and sexy and unleashed and genuine and believable…”
