In the latest episode of ‘The Osbournes’ podcast, Ozzy Osbourne shared his Marilyn Manson-inspired dream that never came to fruition.
His son, Jack, initially asked the singer about the activity he would like to pursue in his free time. Ozzy replied by saying:
“I’d love to be a great artist, painter.”
When Jack again questioned whether he referred to traditional painting, the singer explained:
“No, something that looks more like a f*cking work of art.”
Osbourne then also talked about what that work of art is about:
“I think like the Marilyn Manson paintings that you have are very interesting paintings.”
The rocker’s daughter, Kelly, stepped into the conversation and said:
“I don’t think you give yourself enough credit, Dad. I think your artwork is incredible.”
Ozzy lastly added, sharing how he feels about his painting works:
“I just do it for doodling. It’s like you guys used to get on video games. I just do that for hours. But is it worth anything? I don’t know.”
The vocalist has been interested in painting for years. While discussing the possibility of ending his career in a 2015 chat with Entertainment Weekly, Osbourne said:
“I don’t take drugs anymore, so I’ve got to paint. [But] I’m not really a good artist.”
He also ventured into the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with his digital bat-inspired artwork, Cryptobatz NFT collection. It was introduced in January 2022 and is a joint project with the NFT Studio Sutter Systems. The name ‘CryptoBatz’ is a play on words, combining ‘cryptocurrency’ and the infamous 1982 incident of Osbourne biting the head off a bat.
The CryptoBatz Collection consists of 9,666 one-of-a-kind digital artworks created by the rocker. The most remarkable piece in the collection was the ‘Ozzy Bat,’ a digital artwork that features Osbourne’s signature sunglasses and microphone.
